Views toward the United States are also reflected in consumer behaviour. A strong majority of Canadians say they would continue to avoid purchasing American alcohol even if it returned to store shelves. The findings suggest that attitudes toward Canada-U.S. relations extend beyond politics and are influencing purchasing intentions for some Canadians.
At the same time, Canadians express strong support for providing assistance to Americans during natural disasters. A large majority say they support sending Canadian first responders to the United States when needed, indicating broad public support for cross-border cooperation on humanitarian and emergency response efforts.
Recent polling suggests the Liberals maintain an advantage in federal voting intentions. While Pierre Poilievre and former prime minister Stephen Harper are viewed as the Conservatives’ strongest chance to defeat Liberal Leader Carney, Canadians most often say that none of the available alternatives is likely to defeat Mark Carney. The findings coincide with a broader trend showing the Liberals extending their lead while economic concerns and U.S.-related issues remain prominent in the public mindset.
